Now that it works, I love this tablet. It's much larger than my old one, and that makes so much of a difference. I figured the change would be minimal, but it was actually pretty dramatic. A larger active area means less ultra-sensitivity, so lines drawn with it are much more stable and less jittery. Everything feels smoother and more natural, like it should be.
There are a couple downsides, too, of course. The tablet has a ridiculous name (what idiot decided on "Bamboo Fun"?); the rougher texture, while allowing for more control, is sort of irritating (it makes me think of the wood of an unsharpened pencil scraping a table -shudder-); and the larger space means my hand has to do more work and get tired more quickly when drawing on a larger area. But the downfalls do not outweigh the benefits, so far.
Basically, I'm pretty glad I didn't through my tablet out a window last night, like I was planning to. Anyway, here's a WIP of my test picture: [link] Ignore the ridiculous nose; I don't know how to do furry. Scaley. Whatever. I'll work it out somehow.
Hooray for new tablets.
